Organization: URI / Code.org Regional Partner

Format: 2 semester course

Description: In Computer Science A (CSA), students learn object-oriented programming using Java. Students take on the role of software engineers, and practice skills that are used in the field. The Code.org curriculum for CSA is designed for any high school student who wishes to continue their computer science education after completing an introductory course such as Computer Science Principles (CSP) or Computer Science Discoveries (CSD).

Teacher Profile: Some prior experience teaching Computer Science.

PD Profile: 5-day summer TeacherCon; four 1-day follow-up workshops during the school year; one 2-day wrap-up at the end of the school year (in-person and virtual meetings)

Cost to School: PD/Curriculum costs waived; $94/student for AP exams

Computer Access: Access for all students

Concurrent Enrollment: Allowed
