Code4Kids: K-8 Computer Science Teacher Training

The Code4Kids Teacher Training prepares educators to confidently begin teaching computer science using the Code4Kids CS Course. The initial professional development session is delivered as a live online training lasting approximately 45-60 minutes and may be conducted as a district webinar, small-group session, or targeted training for individual schools. The training focuses on practical classroom implementation. Teachers log into the platform and follow along with a guided walkthrough of lessons, teacher resources, and instructional tools while facilitators demonstrate how the curriculum is delivered in the classroom. During the session, educators learn how to teach core computer science concepts, facilitate coding lessons, support beginner students, and manage coding activities in the classroom environment. The training also provides pacing guidance for the school year and practical strategies for troubleshooting common student challenges. The goal of the training is for teachers to leave the session ready to teach their first Code4Kids lesson immediately. The professional development is designed to support both teachers with prior computer science experience and educators who may be new to the subject, helping schools expand computer science instruction without requiring specialist teachers.
